Our expertise
Two worlds. One institute.
IART is an independent, non-profit institute at Lake Constance that looks at space from two directions. On the technical side, we develop electronics, software and radio communication for satellites and prepare them for operation in orbit through integration, testing and in-orbit validation. On the societal side, we ask how space shapes our region, our culture and our politics. Both are united by one mission: space should be accessible to everyone. That is why we open our work to school pupils and students, with workshops, theses and internships.

IART (Institut für angewandte Raumfahrttechnik, Institute for Applied Space Technology) is a non-profit space institute at Lake Constance. It develops space technology, researches space and society, and opens up space to young people.
Space electronics, on-board software, radio communication, earth observation, in-orbit validation (IOV) and assembly, integration & test (AIT).
It researches space history, advises on space policy, studies space and culture, and communicates space in an accessible way, from school clubs to expert panels.
Yes. For schools, we offer workshops and formats for young people; for students, theses and internships. Anyone who wants to get involved can also volunteer with us. No prior knowledge of space is required.
Yes. Industry and start-ups find development partnerships at IART for electronics, software and radio communication, as well as testing and in-orbit validation.
